School Meals

Church Preen Primary School

Lunchtime is a relaxed and enjoyable time. Children are encouraged to sit in mixed age groups, with the older children supporting the younger children. Children can choose to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch.

School meals

Our school meals are provided by Apetito at a cost of £2.60 per day. We have a fortnightly menu cycle with three choices per day. There is always a vegetarian option and a jacket potato with filling option. The menu is regularly reviewed by our kitchen staff to ensure that we a providing a healthy and balanced menu with plenty of variety. Each term pupils are encouraged to feedback and design the upcoming term’s menu with a pupil panel meeting with staff to share feedback.

Our menu is sent out with the bulletin and parents can book meals in advance via the Teachers2 Parents app.

Universal Free School Meals/Free School Meals

School meals are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (Universal Free School Meals) – a saving of £13.00 per week.

Free School Meals (FSM) are available for children in any year group if their family meets certain income-related criteria (such as receiving certain benefits). If you are eligible, applying for FSM is important – even if your child already receives Universal Free School Meals – because the school will receive extra funding (Pupil Premium) to support your child’s education. Please visit Shropshire County Council website to see if you are eligible.
